When a stranger shows up in Magnolia, Kentucky, things take a turn for the worse. Larue’s new love interest, Callahan Weiss, barista extraordinaire, isn’t sure if Larue is interested in what he’s got brewing. Something weird is going on in town and Larue’s best friend, Mindy, is in danger.

Has a demon followed Larue home from an investigation? Is the new man in town to blame for the strange occurrences? Not only is Larue trying to save Mindy, but the coven leader wants Larue to use her new spellbinding talents and become a full-time witch. Larue’s not sure she’s ready for her new paranormal gift though.

Ghouls Night Out A Psychic Cozy Mystery Larue Donavan Book 2 eBook Rose Pressey

This is a fun story to read; perfect for an easy-going afternoon, perhaps on the patio, with a warm Fall breeze gently blowing. At least that was my setting, and it seemed quite perfect for this story.
In this book, Larue, a paranormal investigator with some latent witchy tendencies, brings home three ghosts from a "house cleansing": Mae West, the grandfather of her new boyfriend, and one 1950s gentleman who has a MAJOR crush on her. While they were cooperative about leaving the house they had been haunting, they have no desire to leave this world, and eve less to leave Larue.
But other things are not right in the town of Magnolia, Kentucky. Larue's best friend starts acting strangely. The cousin of a local witch who had been banished after turning to black magic appears to be having enchanting effects -- and not the nice kind -- upon the women of the town. Larue's boyfriend begins acting strangely.
On top of that, both Larue's bookstore and her home are broken into. And the leader of the local witches' coven has become afflicted with a mysterious illness, placing her in a coma, after having asked Larue to replace her as coven leader. But Larue doesn't have powers, at least not that she is aware of.
The author has beautifully designed the characters; you'll find yourself easily invested in their welfare. And you'll have a great time learning how all this fits together to form this delightful and enchanting story.
Perfectly acceptable for all members of the family.
Errors, while not absent, are not plentiful enough to become annoying.

Now, for those of you new to my reviews, I score based upon enjoyment of the story. Period. That's why most of us read, I believe -- at least, after we're no longer reading for school. A bit of the score is related to how I believe the book lives up to its genre. Let's face it: War and Peace wouldn't score higher than a 2 from me in this genre, nor would this book score higher than 2 in classic genre. For me, its all relative.
The one aspect I have difficulty with in scoring is the presence of errors. Most independent writers don't have benefit of proof-readers provided by a publishing house. And authors tend to see that which they intended, not what they are seeing upon the page. Still, some independent authors do pay independent proof-readers, attempting to put out the best possible product. Basically, I tend to be somewhat lax down-scoring due to errors, but I do reach a point where I feel errors are out of hand; it is not fair to those making (or paying for) efforts to eliminate errors if down-scoring for errors never occurs. But I do let you know when this happens, just as I let you know when errors are present.
Hope this helps you understand my scoring. -- Di

Ghouls Night Out A Psychic Cozy Mystery Larue Donavan Book 2 eBook Rose Pressey Reviews

This series just gets better and better. I love this series. The characters are fun and interesting. I won't bore you with a plot summary as I know other reviewers are fond of doing that. I appreciate that this book has chapter demarcations. Chapter demarcations make it so much easier to see how close you are to the end of a chapter or to find a stopping place when you need to do so. I would love the kind of life the main character has in her job, both of them. If you liked the previous book in the series, I say you should give this one a shot because I don't think you'll be disappointed. Have at it! I can't wait for the next one!
Another fun entertaining read by Rose Pressey. This book started off exactly where we last left Larue and Callahan, which was on one of Larue's ghost hunts. As before there are always tag-a-longs that follow her home. My favorite was Anthony, he was so sweet. I also loved Seth, he really helped to look out for Callahan also.

Again, as with book one, I felt there wasn't enough time with Larue and Callahan together. I hope finally in the next book they can spend some quality time with each other. It's time to give the poor guy a break from the magic spells I think.

I love that Larue is a 'Ghost Hunter' and would like to see more of that part of her life, but I have a feeling the next book will be more about her learning witchcraft. Also, I am so happy she finally opened up with Callahan about her special talent. There was no chance for a future without him knowing.

I am looking forward to reading book three, The Ghoul Next Door.
I was so excited about this book coming out so soon! What a fun and happy story! You should read the first book in the series Me and My Ghoulfriends first (only 0.99). Larue is on another advanture with her new ghost friends! The ghosts will make you laugh out loud! You will wish you had a ghostly entourage following you around too. The books description explains the book perfectly! Rose Pressey's writing is modern, carefree, and happy go lucky! Her books are upbeat, entertaining and just fun. Her book will make you smile! If you love paranormal read all of her books...I have!
Today's review is on Ghouls Night Out by Rose Pressey

I had purchased Ghouls Night Out on a whim and without knowing that it was the second book in Pressey's Larue Donavan series. Needless to say, I was happy to find that Ghouls Night Out was a good stand alone book. Not only that, it was quirky, snarky, and fun to read.

Larue Donavan who owns her own book store, has an amazing and at times annoying ability. She not only sees dead people, but she can talk to them. Deciding to do her part, she had been ghost hunting in her evenings in order to help these spirits move into the light and move on as well as help humans get rid of them. Though she is very good at her ghost hunting job, sometimes she brings her work home with her literally.

In this adventure she finds Mae West of all people along with a handsome, lad named Anthony who has all but fallen head over heel's for Larue. She however only has eyes for Callahan, the hunky coffee shop owner next door to her book shop.

When a new good looking stranger comes to town to take over his cousins business all hell breaks loose. The leader of the local coven becomes ill suddenly, Larue's BFF Mindy begins acting strange, as does Callahan. And she begins being followed by someone in the shadows.

With the help of Mae, Anthony, and Callahan's dead grandfathers ghost, Larue finds her father and thwarts the efforts of a power hungry Witch. In the end helping Mae and the men move on into the light.

Ghouls Night Out reminded me a bit of MaryJanice Davidson's Betsy Taylor without all of the sex. I found myself even giggling a bit.

Neat, clean, and humorous. What more could you ask for to read on a nice day at the beach.

3.5 of 5 stars
